It is possible to perform a disease prediction model based on metabolites profile from a cell-based study (e.g: human dermal fibroblasts) and translate the metabolomics model to predict the health status of a community through their genome databases.
I feel this manuscript by Grapov et al., 2015 comes close to my mind if that is what you are trying to achieve: Genomic, Proteomic, and Metabolomic Data Integration Strategies : http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4562606/. This is freely accessible and the tools are wonderful for such model development. But really, I can not count on success stories recently with these approaches at a community/ race/ population scale such as mGWAS studies?!? Thanks, Biswa

I think cell type that you are using is'nt so "representative" for general health status. In my opinion you could evaluate metabolites individually or in clusters (too difficult as full profile), and try to associate them with some specific well characterized diseases ... or try to extend, with some System Biology theory, cellular health status to whole organism status as file pdf attached..one for inspiration and one more scientific.
