I am currently carrying out a meta-analysis on metabolite levels in Case vs controls and I am trying to understand which risk of Bias assessment to use. Cochrane suggest ROBINS - however this is for interventions (which I am not looking at). Then others suggest NOS however I have seen it has been critised. I wondered if anyone could give me some advice in which one to use?

You can use the QualSyst tool described in the article above. This tool will help you to evaluate the risk of bias of your studies according to criteria such as the desciption of the reseach objective (is it well defined in every studies?), presence of clear and adequate study design, random subject allocation into group, resullt measurment and so on.
