Hi all,

I was originally using a RotorGene 6000 machine that was last serviced 6 years ago. It kept giving me strange results so I sent the run files to QIAGEN for their tech reps to have a look. They wrote back saying the machine has issues with its heating/cooling system.

Now I am using a different real time PCR machine and the results are much more coherent. As I near the end of my research project, I want to devote a chapter on my thesis on proper care of real time PCR machines.

My question is; is there an established guideline for the proper maintenance of qPCR machines? When do we start discarding results from a poorly maintained machine, has anyone published a paper on it?

I have searched PubMed with the key words "maintenance of real time PCR machine" but yielded no hits.

Thanks!
