Jeśli musi być Statistica na MBA, to proponuję pokombinować z jakąś maszyną wirtualną na OSX lub jeszcze lepiej postawić Windowsa jako drugi system na MBA i dopiero na nim zainstalować Statisticę. To drugie rozwiązanie będzie najstabilniejsze. Ale tak jak napisał przedmówca, lepiej zainwestować w przyzwoitego lapka z windowsem, w cenie MBA dostaniesz wydajniejszy sprzęt. A jeśli masz do obrobienia naprawdę duże ilości danych (kilka-, kilkadziesiąt tysięcy przypadków) to nie proponuję Ci, jeśli jesteś początkujący, programów z tekstowym interfejsem. Sam się zastanawiałem nad R, ale statystyk w firmie poradził mi odpuszczenie ich sobie (mimo, że on sam pracuje głównie na R).

Till I know STATISTICA version8 and above exclusively works on windows platform. You may use RStudio , Red R, PSPP , Rattle and Deducer for statistical and data mining task. All are open source and easy to understand beside this they allow graphical representation of data and well defined libraries for statistical as well as data mining tasks . I recommend to use R , Rstudio or PSPP.

My university provide a free license of Statistica for students - so it's why i asked about compatibility of OS X with Statistica, cause i'm going to buy MBA. IMO MBA at this moment is one of the most mobile and power balanced ultrabooks. Mobility of laptop is priority for me.

My experience in statistical analyses is based on Statistica. I don't have enough experience with other software. I'm used to use Statistica and moreover sometimes MedCalc, SPSS..

But as I know it's impossible to run Statistica on OS X. There is no "translator software" or other program as Parallels doesn't allow on it. Only MS Win virtualisation is some solution... But lame solution.

1) Well, after your internship will be over, what it will be of your STATISTICA license?

2) IF you decide to throw money at MBA, that's your decision. I stopped using Apples since when thay became luxury PCs :).

3)As Tolkien said, "Advice is a dangerous gift, even from the wise from the wise...": if you opt for OSX, R/RStudio of course will cause no problems. Forget Parallels. You net VirtualBox: a pair of colleagues of mine opted for MacBooks (two Pro and an Air) and soon they found that some applications thewy needed were windows only. Solution: Install a VortualBox VM using the Windows license they use no more on their old laptops (is it legal?)

I have finally decided to don't buy macbook, because I found reliable alternative for MBA (samsung ultrabook with Windows). The previously mentioned solutions weren't enough ergonomic for me, and to avoid redundant complications I gave up that idea. 

StatSoft doesn't plan iOS version of Statistica (information from polish StatSoft division).
