I am looking for a stain to detect glycosylations. Does anyone have any suggestions for a *mass spec safe* kit or homemade protocol?
I do not know how much glycosylation will be in a given band, so if you know of any method that works well with small amounts of glycosylation present, that'd be appreciated. Also, hopefully nothing too expensive.
I'm not sure. I'm working with echinoderm coelomic fluid. Would the lectins have to be from my system, or can one buy labeled lectins/buy lectins to label myself?
Also, I do not know what lectins my proteins of interest may or may not interact with. Using lectins would only ID a subset of my protein (possibly including my proteins of interest), no?
Hi. Lectins bind to specific carbohydrates, usually the terminal sugar residues in the glycan chains. They have been used for identify carbohydrates on proteins and also in purifying proteins.
