Writing has proved for several millennium a useful tool for communicating with both small and immense numbers of people through time. It has also given us literature, which pacifies, develops and enriches human minds.
But are there not other means of communication that have helped both civilisation and our minds develop?
What are some examples of other communication methods you have in mind?
Egyptian methods of communication also consisted of symbols, although Mesopotamian was mainly through writing. You can look at my work on Egypt if you wish. A scarap for example referenced a number of ideas, which created a dialogue when connected to another symbol.
But mesopotamian culture used simple signs some thousand years before writing was invented, a precursor to writing.
Other methods can be seen in the Americas, cords, for example. Also display, clothing, feasting.
Religion, ritual, sacrifice, burial, architecture, social structure.
