Is there any software available (preferably an open source software), using which I can simulate different spectral signatures of water by varying a certain water quality parameter and keeping the others constant? For example, I need to check the spectral signatures of water by varying the Chlorophyll-a concentrations while keeping the following parameters constant;
Bottom depth = 50 meters
Suspended solids concentration = 25 mg/l
Turbidity = 10 NTU
Dissolved oxygen = 3 mg/l, and
Water surface temperature = 20 C

The most comprehensive radiative transfer simulation software is Hydrolight, but it's not low cost. An alternative could be WASI - see http://www.ioccg.org/data/software.html
I used WASI for my research, agree with Samantha Jane Lavender. I studied optical properties of water column affected by various types of sediments including seagrass meadows. Using WASI I visualized curves of the spectral signatures for various seafloor types and then processed the data using statistical analysis.
