Is there any reason that lower conductivity is observed during ion-exchange purification?

I am using wash buffer with conductivity of 5.5 mS/cm.

However, during wash stage in ion-exchange, lower conductivity (around 4.5 mS/cm) is observed even after the 1 CV.

Is there any reason that lower conductivity is observed during ion-exchange purification?
