I was wondering if there is other option than geNorm to pick some reference genes for RQ qPCR than geNorm. My question arises from geNorm use to be free, now you have to paid for it. So, before to proceed to buy the licenses, I want to know if there is another acceptable way to pick reference genes accepted by scientific community?
Mirko!!, I know one that will help you: RefGenes, an
online tool that allows easy identification of condition-specific reference
genes. RefGenes is based on the Genevestigator database
of normalized and well-annotated microarray experiments. There is no gene that is universally stable, and for each biological
context and specific experimental condition, the most
appropriate set of reference genes does vary.
Through RefGenes, you are able to select the microarray
experiments that are most similar to their chosen experimental
conditions, then up to ten genes can be tested at once and a search is then triggered
to identify those genes that have the lowest variance within the selected set of microarray experiments and a range of expression
that is similar to that of the target gene set.
