Fluorescent staining and further microscopy is a powerful tool in studying microscopic strictures. Are there any other dye systems available that can stain bacterial cells as SYTO9 does?
Thank you Pelin Erkoc , I will check these suggestions. BacLight Green/Red bacterial stains from Thermofisher uses SYTO9 only for staining bacterial cells.
Other SYTO dyes have also been used. SYTO BC is very common, and SYTO 13. Both of those are green. Will that work, or is it that you need a different wavelength? SYTO 25 is orange-fluorescent and has been shown to work. We also have sampler kits, each with multiple SYTO dyes you can try, in different wavelengths.
Okay. Bacterial species can vary in their uptake by different SYTO dyes. I would suggest that you try some sampler kits. We have a red kit (S11340), orange (S11360), or blue (S11350), all of which come with 5 or 6 dyes in small volume to try.
Jason A Kilgore .-. Do these samplet kits come with the dye already liquid form for immediate use, or do they require prep such as dissolving? Also, are the prices reasonable for the kit for those of us without funding?
