Is there any mechanism for intracellular active transport of amino acids?

I have been looking for some information on intracellular transport of monomers, particularly of a.a's. Does the t-RNA charging depend solely on the concentration of specific amino acids? Does a cell only rely on passive diffusion of monomers?
