It was shown that Langerhans in esophagus contain calcitonin gene related peptide, and that number of these cells and their immunoreactivity to calcitonin gene related peptide increase in reflux esophagitis.

it’s well known that calcitonin gene related peptide play a role in immune regulation, however most studies describe it as part of immunoregulation by nervous system; so my question here what about presence of calcitonin gene related peptide in Langerhans cell in skin and other tissue, and in those in tumor given that calcitonin gene related peptide normally can do many immunosuppressive effect similar to those favor tumor growth?
