I have observed the same durng this year's spring when normally there would be a deluge of insects attracted to lights. even this has happened last year during october when the number of insects besieging upon sources of illumination was far less than any I had observd over the last 10 years or so. Air pollution could be a major factor behind it since the quality of the air, erratic monsoon and soil condition all lead to shiofts in the behavioural patterns and life cycles of these insects. There had been massive forst fires all over the world last year and early this year which could have easily killed off as well as altered the life of insects in tremendous capacity. These insects would have meant a steady source of food for many animals in the forest, absence of which meant thses animals had to venture closer to human settlements for food and many such animals could have been the carrier of many unknown groups of viruses. Increased interaction with humans or near human settlments could have easily trasmitted such viruses. If I am to believe natural pathway of transmission of SARS-CoV-2, with a grain of salt.
