To express the morphometric characteristics of the nematode better, De Man first suggested a system (1876). There have been since additions, modifications, and amendments made by Cobb (1914), Thorne (1949), Caveness (1964), and others. These morphometric parameters are popularly known as the De Man’s formula or the De Man’s indices.

Individual research papers list them. I am wondering if they have been collected and put in a public database?

n = number of measured specimens.

L = total body length.

V = distance of vulva from anterior end/total body length × 100

a = total body length/greatest body diameter.

b = total body length/length of pharynx.

b′ = total body length/distance from anterior end to base of esophageal glands.

MB% = % distance from anterior to median bulb relative to length of

esophagus.

c = total body length/tail length.

c′ = tail length/tail diameter at anus or cloaca.

s = stylet length/body diameter at base of stylet.

T = % length of testis relative to body length.

P = % distance of phasmid from anus in relation to length of tail.

Pa = % distance of anterior phasmid from anterior end in relation to body

length.

Pp = % distance of posterior phasmid from anterior end in relation to body

length.

G1 = % length of anterior female gonad in relation to body length.

G2 = % length of posterior female gonad in relation to body length.

ABD = anal body diameter(s) or body diameter at anus/cloaca.

VBD = vulval body diameter or body diameter at vulval region.

DN = dorsal esophageal gland nucleus.

DO = dorsal esophageal gland orifice.

SVN = subventral esophageal gland nuclei.
