Why do we only consider illicit drugs? Medical drugs often have similar, accumulative effects and many now consider they cause personality alteration. Let's widen the net, and consider: Were these killers on drugs of any persuasion?
Legally prescribed medications are legal. Illegal trafficking and or use of medicinal drugs is illegal. Certainly, side effects and/or complications occur rarely with prescribed medicinals, but these compunds are heavily vetted - not without issues on occasion, just extremely rare.
Just like severe psychosocial illness is RARE and is sometimes associated with gun violence.
The question here is about the horses, not the zebras.
