3) this is applicable to bulk ceramics, not metals.
1- Thick films are possible
2- Seems to be possible with gel-casting as there is literature on it. (5-20 nm pores were reported)
3- Ceramics only. ( I do not know what I was thinking when I asked for metals!)
By using smaller surfactants, we were able to produce metal oxides (which are also sort of ceramics) in the form of thin films and having pores size as small as 3 nm. I recommend you to check my published work. For smaller pores, you need to go the MOFs or zeolites. MOFs are also produced in thin films.
