Hi,

The Fresnel equations can be used to calculate the reflectivity and transmissivity of thin film like metal film sandwiched between air and substrate (glass). But if the thickness of the metal (for example, 1nm or 2nm) is much less than its penetration depth at the operating frequency of incident light, the light will pass through the metal film (due to constructive interference). In this sense, is the Fresnel equations sitll suitable for calculation of the reflectivity and transmissivity of the ultra-thin film? If so, is there any example or reported works related to this topic?

Any discussions or recommendation are appreciated.

Thanks!
