I want to simulate the long period fiber grating (LPFG) using COMSOL. I have got the mode field profile of the core mode and cladding modes. However, it seems that calculating the coupling coefficient of the core mode and the cladding by using this software is somewhat complicated. I don't how to work it out, and is it possible?

Did you use only an eigen mode solver or propagating field also ? You said that, you have got mode field profile of the core mode and cladding modes, is it after the field interaction with grating or is it for non grating fiber/eigen mode?

You may not be able to study the modes coupling in fiber using COMSOL, can try using some special wares for fiber and grating modeling...

Thanks for your advice. I have tried the soft Optigrating to simulate the fiber gratings. But using this soft can just solve the relatively simple grating structure. I cannot reproduce the transmission spectra reported by T. Erdogan [1] using this soft after the same parameters as the reference paper.
