Even private sponsorship is falling: in 2012, it dropped by 9.6 percent, but since the start of the financial crisis in 2008, it has dropped by 42 percent. With 3,609 museums, 5,000 cultural sites, 46,025 architectural heritage sites, 12,609 libraries, 34,000 places of entertainment, and 49 UNESCO sites (two new UNESCO sites, Medici Villas and Mount Etna, were named a few weeks ago), Italy is unique for the richness of its heritage. But it is also one of the most backward countries in Europe in terms of investment in the sector.

Yet the Federal Government allots much funding to the preservation of historical monuments in the capital, Washington, District of Columbia. Throughout the country, State and municipal governments allot their own funds-- whose abundance varies with the wealth of the particular area-- to preserve local historical sites. Tax revenues at all levels sustain monumental heritage. Furthermore, there exist private, individual endowments to preserve historical colleges and universities. A short history, few monuments (as compared with yours), and economic wealth make the United States a model for preserving national tradition. There is a sense of national and local pride which underpins the generosity of funding.

In a way, cultural heritage is part of the largest and fastest growing industries (tourism) and it proves to be a significant means of economic attraction. The national/regional attitude towards cultural heritage tourism development, where cultural heritage awareness is not yet fully developed, may show absence of potential for further development (economic and otherwise).

We are at very beginning of endowment tradition in Russia after Soviet era. In my university some endowment fund exists very short time and now it is very small.

Education in my country is one of the main agenda of the govt, and consumes the major part of our national budget. But there are also many private colleges, university colleges and universities.

I believe some of the philanthropists provided the land or the fund! About 5 years ago, I visited one such private college and got this info. Thanks.

Yes Ljubomir, cultural heritage of a nation is the heart of the nation. It is what differentiate the memory of a population from another in its arts, customs, architecture, building, literature, culinary ...etc skills. Nations must protect and conserve their cultural heritage, because it is not their own heritage but it is also a humanity memory heritage.

For example Mediterranean countries were the land of many human civilizations, unfortunately many cultural and historical buildings and material and immaterial products are neglected and sometimes destroyed.

In my country, conservation and restructuring of ancient buildings, monuments and museums is lacking. Many of them were destroyed by natural phenomena or by human neglect or incivilities. As well as colonial architectural buildings are neglected, and the new constructions do not follow any design or harmony or beauty

His first grammatic and heuristic methodology are productive. The representatives of this foundation presented books by Khovansky to us. The books are unique.15 human beings, nominators, were very happy, too.
