How did you protect tetracycline from the light during the tests? Is brown glass containers acceptable? Or use aluminum foil?

Dear Alireza,

Yes, this drug is severely sensitive to the light. I used this in my experiments and it reacts with light after two or three days in which the UV absorbance is reduced significantly. I recommend you to cover the bottle containig T C with a foil.

Alireza Mohebali: Sorry for replying too late to your question. As per experience, both the options you suggested are acceptable. However, wrapping with Al-foil is better as it completely prevents interaction of the drug and light. Brown glass containers (Amber glass) will delay the tetracycline degradation but it will not stop it, whreras Al-foil would completely prevent the degradation/decay. Hope tis helps... Good Luck... :)
