Is Religious Commitment Scale appropriate to be used in a sample comprising different religions to measure level of religiosity of each person regardless of his or her religion? This is to provide some rough guide on level of religiosity to conduct further analysis on that person's suicidality.
You'll find an excellent guide to religious measures if you can find a library copy of Measures of Religiosity Hardcover – July 1, 1999 by Peter C. Hill (Editor), Ralph W. Hood Jr. (Editor). Religious Education Press. This is an excellent resource offering several options for measuring qualitative change in a wide range of formats. Each tool has its own area of application. Measures of Religiosity offers many different models for measuring spiritual growth and patterns. If you do any research at all in the psychology of religion, owning (or having your library own) a copy of this volume is an absolute must. It has all the scales that are important to the professional literature. Very expensive on Amazon, but worth finding in a library.
Hi Hendrika, I bought Hill (1999) from Amazon.com when you first suggested earlier. Extremely good compilation, and yes, very expensive too. But it's good. The only disadvantage I found out so far are that most if not all are designed for usage in Western countries, with Christianity element. For example I cannot use the same questionnaire in a mixed racial community whereby one is Christian and one is Muslim Islam. That's the headache I have now ...
Of course. If you see religious Commitment Inventory for adolescent, it specified the reliability coefficients alpha for the different regions it was tested on with show diverse validity.

The scale doesn't measures religiosity, but religious commitment. If you look at the authors' paper (Worthington et al., 2003), the items revolve around inter-personal and intra-personal, i.e., social dimension and private dimension, respectively.
