Is it safe to adjust the pH of a ferricyanide/ferrocyanide solution in PBS from 7.4 to 5 using HCL acid?

I have a ferricyanide/ferrocyanide (5mM: 5mM) solution in phosphate buffer saline with a pH of 7.4 that I would like to adjust to about 5. Is it safe to do this with a 0.5 M HCL solution or will it release toxic cyanide gas? I have read that under very acidic conditions, the ferricyanide/ferrocyanide couple will release cyanide gas, but a pH of 5 is relatively high?

It should be okay. Some HCN will form between pH 1-2 but rapidly becomes negligible above that range. Forget bringing the pH below 1.
