I need to do primary cell culture of microglial cells and protocol has DMEM+GlutamaX-1 as culture media, but in my lab we have DMEM high glucose media with glutamine and glucose. So is it ok if I just use that instead of ordering DMEM-GlutamaX-1 media.

there is difference between applying GlutaMAX and L-Glutamine. Nonetheless they function the same way as a culture media supplement (normally added around 2 mM). GlutaMAX is a derived form of L-glutamine, in the form of L-alanyl-L-glutamine, which prevents the accumulation of ammonia (which is toxic in cell cultures). But if you change your medium often, there should be no problem.

L-glutamine breaks down fairly quickly even at 4C and faster at 37C. The numbers Sigma provided years ago was 30% loss in two weeks at 4C and in less than 2 days at 37C. If your basal media with L-glutamine is a few months old from time of manufacture, then it should be supplemented with additional L-glutamine, but supplementation with GlutaMax would be much better because it is stable.
