Science is becoming really compartmentalized and we are all in the race to impose our own specialization to the entire research community in respective field. Isn't it time to pause and think again about the amount of data that we are generating and the informatics revolution wave that we have created? Isn't this actually making us blind to the the real issues?

While Biology is becoming indeed more compartmentalized, there is also more pressure for interdisciplinarity, which seems paradoxical.
We are also witnessing scientific meetings breaking apart into more specialized subthemes, which feels like going backwards to me.
