For heavy simulations, it is necessary to see the results/solutions sometimes in the middle and after reviewing it, the simulation can be started from where we stopped. Is this option available in COMSOL Multiphysics? This option is available in ANSYS Fluent.
"Results while solving" option in COMSOL is a time-crunching operation and its not what I am asking.

you can follow procedure given below.
1) During the calculation, got to the "Progress" tab. It's in the lower part of the screen, right underneath the graphics window.
2) Click the "Stop" buttons.
3) Wait for the calculation to stop.
4) When the calculation has stopped, you get an error message about the calculation being interrupted. Click "Ok".
5) Save the file. You can now close COMSOL.
6) Later, open the file. Right click the relevant "Study" and select "Continue". The should be it.
why do you say that the "result while solving" is time crunching? any data ?
how much longer does it take with/without this option?
@ Lukas Alberts - Yes, We can see the animation, storing certain data while solving itself.
yes of course, but you said that this showing "results while solving" would consume a lot of computing time? any idea how much?
this is why i asked about the difference in solving time with or without this option.
i use this option because then I can see if my physics in running fine and the model is not solving something out of reality.
but i never took care about the extra time it may consume.
@ Lukas Alberts - I need certain time for telling about this. As I am working on my 3D model, my simulation is currently running since 3 days. Still I will update you after some time with a simple model. Thanks for your question. It will be good if we know the difference in the time taken.

I would suggest the same solution that Keyur mentioned above - use the probes to see how a certain variable changes during the simulation, without interrupting the solver.
I would like to add just one more thing. The probes aren't available only in the 4.+ Comsol versions. They can also be found in the older 3.5a version too (Postprocessing Menu -> Probe Plot Parameters).
To monitor the results with the simulation, use the probe feature. For more information about probe feature, you may refer to COMSOL Multiphysics Reference guide.

For continuing the study from the point where the simulation has stopped, you need to right click the study and click continue.
So far as I know, it is possible for some model in which some eigenvalue are going to return. in this case, you can stop running and check the results. However I don't think it is possible to continue the program. It should be started from the beginning.
I'm running COMSOL on a laptop (plugged in) and sometimes I want to stop a simulation when I need to switch to battery, but then I want to continue the simulation later. Specifically, I am doing a frequency scan, say from 1 - 5 GHz and it's only at 2.5 GHz when I need to unplug, so I would like to pause the simulation and then start it again at 2.5 GHz when I plug in again. I tried what Deepak Kumar suggested, but it appears that the simulation starts from the beginning, even though I told it to continue. How do I get it to just use the results that were already completed (1 - 2.4 GHz) and have it just continue with the missing frequencies?
