Is it possible to quantify UCP2 in plasma with ELISA kits?

Dear all,

I have seen some ELISA kits for quantification of human UCP2 in plasma samples. Is it possible? I'm not sure of that since UCP2 is a protein present in the mitochondrial inner membrane, not being secreted. How can these kits detect UCP2 in plasma?
