Thank you very much for you reply. I understand it is better to isolate the stem cells from a fresh cord.
I asked this question, in case a contamination occurs in the cultured cells, we can use the preserved cord piece to isolate stem cells, rather than collecting a new cord sample again from the hospital. At least a method to preserve the cord pieces for a few days would serve the purpose.
not sure for cord blood pieces, but definitely i will recommend to isolate stem cell first then store it. or you can store cord blood as they do in transplant setting
