@ Bindu, AM fungi is a obligate symbiont therefore it so far can not grow in the synthetic medium. But the germination process can be studied on suitable media. Also the infection process can be followed on these media with transformed root cultures . Otherwise you may try with put some soil in the common fungal media.
J. C. Tarafdar is correct. The spore germination is possible for some AMF species using specific culture media... but their whole life cycle is not possible yet.
These fungi have a low, or negligible, saprophytic ability and can apparently produce viable propagules only upon the biotrophic colonization of a susceptible host root. They are thus considered physiologically obligate symbionts and the related literature reflects the failure to grow them on synthetic media. But the germination process can be studied on suitable media. Also the infection process can be followed on these media with transformed root cultures.
