While doing eigenanalysis of a 13 bus system, I get a zero frequency for certain modes. Though the inter-area and local modes have the desired frequencies. What does that mean?
In eigenvalue analysis of power systems, there will always be negative real eigenvalues (if the system is stable). These eigenvalues represent the non oscillatory decaying modes of the system.
For detail explanation please refer to the chapter 12 of the "Power System Stability and Control" book by Dr. P. Kundur.
If the most right eigenvalue is zero, the system is on the edge of small-signal aperiodic.

To each pair of complex conjugate eigenvalues
λi=αi±jωi are called aperiodic and oscillatory modes of the system motion respectively. The eigenvalue real part αi is called damping of the mode i , and the imaginary part
