Would it than be possible to change the position of this beam systematically?
Would the position of the detection depend on the position of the beam left from the double slit plane?
Would the sum of all measurements result in the same known pattern of a double slit if all positions had been used for the same period of time?
I have added a file with an image to illustrate what I mean.
The answer could be very helpful in figuring out the path of photons near the slit. I have done some investigations, documented in

But the central question has not yet been answered: Is there a random effect in the double-slit experiment or not?

Hi Thomas, A Gaussian laser beam can be ideally focused down to half of the wavelength. However, this would require a lens which has an numerical aperture of 1. More realistically you can focus the beam down to 4-8x the wavelength spot diameter. For that you just need a short focal length microscope objective and a good beam quality (ca. M squared=1) laser beam.
Slits are often etched/cut like this. If the light goes through only one of the slits because the spot size is so small, than the slit is just a very small aperture and won't have much effect on the beam.

But then how can a double slit experiment with single photons produce the same pattern as a beam and what could be the difference between unsystematically emitted photons and a systematically emitted beam from a slow moving focused laser?
I don't think I follow you. For the double slit interference you have to illuminate both of the slits.
If you have a single beam and send it through a single slit, window, door or even under the Eiffel tower, it will be still be a single beam - no change or interference.
Daniel Csati , perhaps you haven't found time to read the link in the question. This is an investigation where photons are treated as patricles and nevertheless the probability density is according the known double slit pattern. I'm not interested in doors or Eiffel towers of course ;-)

I've just updated the document. The normalization is corrected now. Before there was a deformation of the photons' paths.
