Is it possible to carryout step by step fatigue crack propagation with automatic remeshing around the crack tip (with or without defining the crack path) using ANSYS Mechanical APDL?
I will not try to answer you for the computer program, I envite you to think about the answer. Worldwide ANSYS becomes a superstar and everybody seek to put something there to run, but didn't stop to think "what will come to me as the answer?". When you have a crack, some kind of continuity desappear meanwhile, high local stress will appear on the border or near the point where the crack begins and also some separation can occur. Due to this high stress, you will have plasticity envolved -if any- which depends on material properties, the law that will be followed from that region of stress on. You see: someone tell you use this, do this. What is beyond the aparatus ANSYS will use to follow the given instructions? Only because you are using the superstar the answers will be "all right"? How can you afford that remeshing will automatically fulfill the gap of so many hipothesis that are not presented in your question or it doesn't matter? Is only a question to put something in the mouth and eat? If I put glass or wood in your mouth, will you still eat? My point is, be careful. Computer can produce any answer that always depends in your data and what you ask it to do. It's answer can have no meaning at all.
hallo sajith , I am working on similar kind of task, automatic remeshing of the model and simulating crack propafation, I am in half way mark, could you please tell about your work, It would be a great help for me
