The "isolated nerve preparation" is commonly carried out using the frog sciatic nerve or invertebrate nerves (e.g. for compound action potential measures). Is it possible to carry out this preparation using the mouse sciatic nerve? If so, what kind of precautions should be followed? And where can I find an experimental protocol?

Yes, you can use a type of protocol that we used in rats (Matsuka Y, Spigelman I., J Neurophysiol. 2004 Jan;91(1):48-56.) or mice (Walwyn WM, Matsuka Y, Arai D, Bloom DC, Lam H, Tran C, Spigelman I, Maidment NT. Exp Neurol. 2006 Mar;198(1):260-70.) to record compound action potentials, or even do simultaneous intracellular recordings from somata of neurons in the dorsal root ganglia.

I agree with Igor, and you can find another protocol to record not only compound action potentials but also monopolar recording of electrical activity from fine axon bundles from the rat's sciatic nerve (Rivera et al., Journal of Physiology (2000), 527.2, pp. 305—313).

For my observations, I need to be sure that an action potential is actually occurring in a particular moment and in a particular mouse sciatic nerve fibre. Therefore, single-fibre measures are good but they could be more difficult to perform. For this reason, it would be simpler if I could elicit the action potential in all the nerve fibres, as you usually do in the classic "isolated nerve preparation".
