I run full scan for Dimethomorph (a fungicide) in GC-MS/MS, and it gives two peaks with different retention times 11.1 and 11.3. I increased temperature from 280 to 320°C and peaks little bit come closer but this is final temperature limit of column and i can't go beyond. Can anybody explain what is possible reason and how i can overcome it. For assistance spectrum is attached below. Thanks
Hi Muhammad. You need provide more details about your analysis for answer your question, but if you pay attention in Dimethomorph molecule's contain a double bound. This could be separation between cis and trans isomers in GC column. You could confirm this checking your standard or sample purity, if it is available for you.
Hi @Marcos Steola, @Nadeem Muhammad @Noel W Davies, the standard i used is sigma Aldrich, analytical grade with 99% purity, i think problem is other than purity.
Hi Muhammad Ayub Muhammad Ayub . This is hasn't relationship with purity, this is relationship with synthesis molecule procedure. If you read for standard certificate of analysis, it's possible it is informing that is a mixture of isomers ( see link below). You must sum both peaks in your calculate.
