As undergraduate students, not everyone gets the same opportunity to involve in research. So, how about, they choose a topic, read 7/8 papers on it, find a research gap, and present it in a conference as a poster? Practically, they are not working in the lab, just compiling and maybe summarizing the existing knowledge. They do not have any research fimdings of their own.
I think what you propose is reasonable. It is essentially a literature review, which may be valid for a poster presentation. At the undergraduate level, reading 7 or 8 papers and being able to identify a gap in the literature, I think, is fairly impressive.

I had to dig this up, but here is a poster I presented at a professional meeting, that is just a literature review. It's nothing too innovative, but did generate some conversation at the meeting.

Dear Syeda Faiza Mahmuda, Compilation is allowed and one can also summarize the existing knowledge mentioning the sources providing appropriate references. You know very well that without citing the source and crediting the original researcher, presenting something as one's own is considered to be plagiarism. It is not mandatory for anyone to present a poster in a conference. But if one presents something, it must be of his/her own.
Two issues should be considered before anyone can provide a definitive answer. First, say what you mean by "almost solely created from." If you mean cut up those and piece them together, there are issues (e.g., copyright). Second, no one here can answer definitively. If you are worried ask the conference. Some conferences are very picky about what you can submit. That the commentators above don't believe either of these should be considered is a little surprising.
Is this more like a poster based on a survey/review of relevant literature? If they cite their sources and avoid plagiarism of any kind (I can't stress this enough), this should be OK in my humble opinion. In fact, it may be a good way to expose these students to the scientific method/scientific community.
You seem to be describing a state-of-the-art poster, i.e. a poster that summarizes the main findings in a research field. Note too that all research papers contain some form of literature review. In any case, if the cited works are properly referenced, it's perfectly fine.
Presenting the poster of other author/s is fine with me as long as you remember to give credits to whom credit is due. We cannot call it plagiarism as long as we cite our source/s. I personally believe in what the Book of James tells us that all the good and perfect things that we know come from the God who created us all. Remember that we are all created in the image of God with the capacity to produce and reproduce.

I add my support to your proposed plan. I like the concept of Eloy Romero Muñoz and say that this sounds like a good opportunity to critically analyse what are the latest developments on the topic - the advantages and disadvantages of each idea and its applications.
It sounds like a literature review turned into a poster. Is that really your intention?
