How old are your embryos ? I always dechorionate by hand with a pair of tweezers, but my embryos are 24hpf or older. It takes a bit of practice but it is easy to master.

If all you're after is DNA/RNA, why not just homogenize them (mechanical, or freeze thaw) then do a trizol extraction right away? Here's a good article to that effect: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2845602/

I've been able to extract both genomic DNA and RNA from embryos still in their chorion, so no in my experience it is not necessary.
