Researchers need curated, high-quality content. Poor-quality and predatory journals are a threat to the integrity of science. While poor-quality journals may be easy to identify from a publication performance perspective, they may not be a threat to the integrity of science and possibly serve niche areas or specific research communities. Although usage of the term predatory publishing is widespread, it remains ill-defined and subject to personal interpretation and judgement. Specifically: • Labeling a journal predatory may be controversial if there is no evidence. Publishers that have, in someone’s subjective opinion, some predatory publications may also publish high-quality journals. • It is not always straightforward to identify predatory journals. Journals change their editorial policies over time; a journal that did not start off as predatory may become so over the years or vice versa. • The term predatory evokes a negative response in some, while others find it fitting seeing these publications and indeed their publisher as practicing unethically.
Yes, in our university does not count research if it is not indexed by Journals with Scopus indexed journals
Scopus is a bibliographic database containing abstracts and citations for academic journal articles. It covers nearly 22,000 titles from over 5,000 publishers, of which 20,000 are peer-reviewed journals in the scientific, technical, medical, and social sciences.
Scopus is a good database for indexing, but Web of Science is better and mostly used while the commonest is PubMed. They have individual advantages if an article is indexed in a combination of these it makes it the best.
For me, an article found in PubMed/Pubmed central (PMC) attracts more citations.

Yes of course. Because Scopus database indexed only peer reviewed and reputable journals. High impact research journals are indexed on the database. This makes it acceptable by all researchers globally.
Yes and no. It starts with the goal to identify good, legit, and genuine journals. One of the indicators for this can be Scopus indexing. Others are:
-For Open Access journals, a membership of DOAJ
-Indexing in Clarivate’s ESCI or better SCIE
-Indexed by PubMed (only applicable for Life Science/Medicine oriented journals)
-Papers have a DOI (and CrossRef)
-Some quality matters like transparency about costs, international Editorial Board, real Contact info etc.
Keep in mind that new journals have no indexing (yet). Journals started by Elsevier, Springer Nature etc. almost always end up with impact factor and so on after a couple of years.
Best regards.
PS. One critical note about Scopus indexing. Looking at the frequently published discontinued lists of Scopus titles one should be careful. Especially the firs two years are used by Scopus to evaluate a ‘final’ indexing. After two years quite often, journals are eventually not included, see also the following discussion here on RG:
In our country, this is one of the mandatory licensing conditions for teaching at the university. However, I personally believe that the priority of publication in journals of this database limits the ability of others (with less financial support and sponsorship) journals to publish current scientific data of leading scientists.
According to their website and I quoted, "Scopus is the largest abstract and citation database of peer-reviewed literature: scientific journals, books, and conference proceedings. Delivering a comprehensive overview of the world's research output in the fields of science, technology, medicine, social sciences, and arts and humanities." And to answer the question, I think, it is "YES," however, that will depend on individuals, which is not mandatory. But, you can join and apply for membership, then submit all your write-ups depending on the discipline you are involved with.
I think it's highly recommended to have publications in good quality peer-review journals. It may be Scopus Indexed, WoS, etc. Peer-review process is a prerequisite for good publication.
Scopus is the biggest abstract and citation database of peer-reviewed literature: scientific journals, books, and conference proceedings. Delivering a comprehensive overview of the world's research output in the fields of science, technology, medicine, social sciences, and arts and humanities . Thus, It is worthy to add your research to their body of knowledge.
Sure because scopus is one of the biggest citation databases for peer-reviewed publications, papers, and colloquiums that exists in the globe today. Any body who is of repute within the academic community seeks to have their research work published in Scopus indexed journals and publications because they are trusted and read by millions academics, researchers, scholars and other professionals across the world.
I think the importance of research lies in the desired benefit of research to serve the community, and it is not important whether it is Scopus indexed journals or not.
Yes, it is important to do that as Scopus promotes the spontaneous expansion of groundbreaking research work and outcomes by permitting researchers to declare their work on a global scale, guaranteeing certain accreditation and encouraging career elevation. As well as Scopus fosters collaboration by exhibiting the expertise of important partners and obvious experts purely on the merit and quality of their research work and experimental studies. This helps top experts who need people to collaborate with, easily connect with those that show immense potential in their respective field/fields of research and study.
This is important for higher education institutions, as it is one of the criteria for the University's activity. This is taken into account by the supervising Ministry.
I think yes. Scopus indexed journals have a good publicity and worldwide circulation. When a researcher publishs a paper in one of those journals he tries to ensure a thorough review and a worldwide exposition for his paper 📝 . This is important for the researcher’s (or faculty’s) resume (CV) whether for employment or promotions.
Even more important to publish your research in Web of Science indexed journals, because Scopus has lost ground drastically since 2017, as it started to index some poor-quality journals.
Paper Publications is one of the leading Indian organisations for publication of research papers. It is confluence of well renowned scientists, emeritus professors, research professors, academicians, and industry consultants for widest dissemination of knowledge throughout the globe. Our activities are international publication of articles, organizing international and national level conferences, publishing conference papers and supporting research work of individual scholar as well as group of authors. We work with authors to bring up publication of papers characterized by exceptional high quality research. Our top priority is rapid circulation of scientific knowledge and hence all of our international journals are open access.
Identifying the Best Journal/Publication That Is Scopus Indexed. The primary goal of everyone seeking to have their research work and papers published in Scopus indexed journals is so that they can gain the recognition of prominent domain experts and peers from their fields.
Really, there are many trusted publishers and thousands of indexed journals, so that means you may submit your manuscripts to such trusted academic publisher and not only Scopus data base.
Anyway, Scopus is representing a trusted database, so you will spread your findings around the world easily.
It is best to publish in "an approved database" and "journal issued by a trusted academic publisher" to ensure your article reaches the largest number of researchers and to stay away from predatory journals or scientific theft. Your citation thus increased.
The primary goal of everyone seeking to have their research work and papers published in Scopus indexed journals is so that they can gain the recognition of prominent domain experts and peers from their fields.
However, blindly publishing your research paper in any journal or publication is not the best way to go about spreading the word about your research work.
One should always first begin by identifying the most relevant and appropriate journal to their current field/subject of interest/study.
As detailed above Scopus has numerous journals and publications listed as part of its master list that it has deemed to be authentic, reliable and of great quality.
There are certain criteria that one must keep in mind when determining if a journal or publication that they have found on Scopus’ master list is the most relevant to their research and work.
I don't believe that there is mandate to Publish Scopus indexed Journals .Any standard journal Peer Reviewed ( ISSN ) , JOI -except predatory journals . I prefer
to Publish my work in my Nationalised conservative peer Reviewed Journals .
I beg a prayer, whatever the beliefs of each one, or a minute of silence for the victims of Beirut ... I had the pleasure of getting to know such a beautiful city and I could not contain my tears in the face of such a tragedy. May the Merciful God have mercy on the deceased and the survivors and allow a speedy recovery for the wounded and for the city!
whenever go for a job first they ask for how many publications ....is it Pubmed or Scopus indexed... especially in deemed universities they prefer Scopus indexed journals.
I believe open access journals can reach much more people than restricted paid reading. Science is for the common mass and hence open access should be promoted
The society has made it important (to publish an article at index scopus journal). for example: as the requirement to get scholarship, post doc position, etc
I think it's not "mandatory" to publish in Scopus Indexed Journal but "preferably" if you want to get a job, postdoc or in my case for example thesis defence because of the well known and trusted reputation of Scopus by the institutions.
I will recommend Scopus indexed journals anytime because of the rigors of peer-review. World University and Author ranking is based on publications and citations in Scopus indexed journals, and with good reason. And as for the why, because research experts recommend it. I do too. Try to follow the trend. You are not on your own and cannot do as you please.
Adnan Z. Mkhelif Yes it is important to publish in Scopus or WOS indexed journals, so that your article could be recognized by other researchers/ institutes in order to be accredited.
