A lot of scientists, myself included, use gmail almost exclusively and their institutional email address simply forwards mail to the gmail account. Since presumable the gmail address will stay with a person for longer than an institutional email address, wouldn't it make more sense to use this more permanent address when one is listed as corresponding author? Yet, I don't think I've seen this in practice. Any thoughts?
