I'm going to conduct behavioral test with T-maze on zebrafish at different ages.When I used a few samples to go through the behavioral test protocol, I found there were some fish have difficulty in learning where the food was. However , among these fish , I also found two fish that had lower locomotivity, which means they didn't move a lot as the other fish . Should I exclude data from these low locomotivity fish ?
Data from the two will be regarded as outliers and excluded from data computation, unless the two represent a significant percentage of the overall group data.
In studies involving models of behaviour, one could subclassify subjects based on their levels of activity as either high responders or low responders. In computing data including or excluding data would depend on the number of subjects in the study group and if the numbers left (if data is excluded) is enough to make reasonable statistical claims other than this it would be advisable to get two new zebrafish and repeat the study in them and replace the data rather than exclude.
