I want to disolve drugs in DMSO and want to apply them topically on wounds, but some researchers have pointed me that it is cytotoxic even at lower concentration i.e. 10% or more. Can anyone suggest about the topical use of DMSO as a vehicle on wounds?

Dimethyl Sulfoxide is readily absorbed through skin and may carry other dissolved chemicals into the body. An unusual garliconion-oyster odor may develop on breath and body/skin. Absorption through skin may also cause diarrhea, and affect respiration(dyspnea, cyanosis), blood, behavior (fatigue, dizziness, sedation, headaches), vision (transient photophobia, and disturbances of color vision), urinary system (hematuria).
In case of wounds the risk is higher and faster than exposure to skin without wounds since DMSO can be absorbed into the blood circulation which results in symptoms similar to that mentioned above.

Abstract
Dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) is usually used to solubilize poorly soluble drugs in permeation assays such as that using Caco2 enterocyte-like cells. The objective of this study was to evaluate the toxicity of DMSO on Caco2/TC7 cells and determinate the maximal concentration usable in permeation experiments. Caco2/TC7 cells were cultured for 21 d on 96-well plates for evaluation of toxicity. The determination of lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) release in cell supernatant and the measurement of Neutral Red (NR) uptake are used for cytotoxicity assays. DMSO solutions (0-100%) in Hank's balanced salt solution containing HEPES (25 mM), pH 7.4, were incubated with Caco-2/TC7 cells on 96 well plates. Caco2/TC7 cells were cultured on Transwell-Clear inserts to evaluate the influence of DMSO on the apparent permeability of the paracellular marker mannitol. I didn't find that any body using DMSO as vehicle,rather it can be used as permeation enhancer at low concentration. So, it can be used as one of the ingredient in your formulation which may act as permeation enhancer as well as it will als add wound healing activity because of surfactant activity at low concentration.
DMSO as long been used to promote healing. People who have it on hand often use it for minor cuts and burns and report that recovery is speedy. Several studies have documented DMSO use with soft tissue damage, local tissue death, skin ulcers.
