I am trying to find a good software for Dynamic Analysis and so far I know Cosmos and ADAMS. I do not know exactly which one is for what purpose. Any opinion?
MSC ADAMS is a code for multibody systems, where rigid bodies are connected with springs, dampers and other elements. Examples are full vehicle models including tires and so on. MSC ADAMS allows to import also elastic structures and to run hybrid simulation.
COSMOS is a finite element solver, mainly mechanics of elastic bodies. Stress and strain as well as buckling and modal analysis are typical fields of application.
-> best choice depends a lot on type of problem you have.
To my experience, ADAMS is the best choice if your problem is mainly located in the mbs-world - most of the bodies can be taken as rigid. Otherwise - most bodies are to be described as elastic - FEM should host. It should be mentioned, that the ADAMS approach in including elastic bodies is based on some assumptions and numerical parameters - not always set with proper defaults.
