The literature indicates that low-dosage aspirin administration as an anti-aging agent has evolved from the multitude of properties associated with aspirin to prevent the cellular and functional declines from inflammatory and oxidative sources linked to aging. The anti-aging gene Sirtuin 1 is associated with the reversal of cell senescence and accelerated aging. Aspirin has been shown to be a Sirtuin 1 activator and the low dosage aspirin administration may be important to increase life span in global populations.
