I have tried this in laboratory. We used a model for liver resection in rats but could not find a beneficial effect of TISSEEL. The thought was that that the fibrin would keep stemcells injected in place so they could have time to act.

TISSEEL is useful due to its wide availability and experience  in clinical practice. It is really just polymerized fibrin, you can easily make your own just using autologous serum. At this point in the evolution of the transplant field there are a wide variety of biodegradable matrices that you can select to use for your cellular implants. This technique should only be necessary if you are placing cells into a gap or space or on a surface. Otherwise, the surrounding tissue will stabilize your transplant. Well studied stabilizing gels include collagen, fibrinogen, laminin, Matrigel, and PGLA compounds. Some of these can be designed to promote cell survival and other functions.

Thank you for the responses. Using a sealant would serve a dual purpose in that spinal roots that have been avulsed need to be reattached. Have found a sample of a fibrin sealant, and will try it out shortly.
