In the process of discharging our duties as Academics, we come across different people: parents, students, supervisors/examiners, board members, members of the management team and CEO (career and political). These people may pick offense and later become a boss: Governor, President, VC, etc. Don't you think our job is highly sensitive and require special care? Thanks.

Academic job is bery sensitive for two reasons: a. We are responsible for training our nation‘s and global workforce; flawed job on our part can result in big losses. b. We produce research evidence and negligence or dishonest reporting of findings can be dangerous in implications.

It is sensitive because you are molding people's life through the knowledge you are passing and hence should ensure the right and correct information is passed across. Any wrong information or knowledge given could be passed from generation to generation
Yes, Academic job is very sensitive but no problem you have to do your work wholehearted and honestly.

You are very right to outline the job of a professor. Have to be very careful what you do and say, because everyone may use your comments later as a weapon against you. It is not only the students needing training and knowledge, but the whole community who is "listening" to what you are saying and doing.
We had a strange situation in our university where a professor was dead against girls attending his classes. If he couldn't convince them to abandon his class, he gave them low marks, ignored their questions and tried to fail them. Of course, he will be targeted by those that suffered under his harsh treatment, but so far he has escaped that although he lives under the threat of a punishment.
Generally, the all teaching job in different stages are sensitive because this job that deals with the brain of the people.

Yes, it is very sensitive and very important. But in the Balkans it is very underprivileged. In normal social livelihoods, true professors are models even after graduating, they should be highly valued, but unfortunately the situation is slightly different in our country.

Of course it is sensitive, but so are many (if not most) jobs. Every role is difficult to build and easy to destroy, so everyone must be diligent to maintain the correct course.

As I see them, universities are there to deliver good teaching and perform research that looks for the unknown. The main goal of universities is to bring about creators and innovators, not conformist people, that is, people who are prone to passively accept ready made or established truths imposed on them from outside, generally by indocrination and brainwashing.
I belive that only education can save societies and even individuals from possible collapse, be it violent or gradual. Of course, education is costly, but is far less costly than its alternative, ignorance.
Accordingly, any academic job is sensitive, challenging and demanding because any academic job impacts on the society at large. Even though the teaching profession is often socially underestimated, I judge it to be to noblest profession all over the world.
Of course, universities and all teaching institutions should not be subject to follow any political, religious or economic orientation or ideology, but thet should rather be a place of freedom and that looks for the true, the good, and the beautiful.

So to say all the job carry responsibility & when this come to our mind a rational thinking in the line with our experience is necessary & this is applicable for all the profession norms.
In this line such as academic job is sensitive & it creates responsibility for the student to the problem , behavior & sometime either to call the parents for the children or for higher study to take a disciplinary action it is in this line academic job is sensitive .
This is my personal opinion
The teaching profession can have a positive impact on all members of the society including those who may now be bosses. They should be greatful for their association with you as a teacher and appreciate what they have learned. At the same time the teacher/professor need not be fearful that some big shot's son or daughter is in your class or fear that one day one of your students becomes a CEO and treats you badly because perhaps you laid down the rule in the class room. Like all professions, we just need to do our jobs ethically and professionally as teachers.
I agree with colleagues who have highlighted the sensitive nature of the academic jobs. All jobs being equal get my respect as difference of opinion and fro “diversity of opinion to be respected“ pointed of view. if all jobs were equally sensitive then why would some jobs in the govt. require top security clearance?

Keep in mind that in today’s highly competitive market, you must be seen first as objectively qualified. If that’s the case, a person known to a committee member might have an edge.
