Academic jobs involve teaching, research, administrative, playing a counselor's role and more. Some duties are well pronounced and some are not. What do you think is the most difficult part of academic work? How can we overcome it?
As per my observation 'Completion of Doctorate' along with regular teaching with 'Employer' as per course curriculum is really a challenging goal in 'India'
To serve additional 'Public office' assignment along with regular 'Teaching', 'Research' & 'Thesis guidance' is challenging task for 'Faculty' at 'University' level
Initially, the hardest part is the preparation for lessons. That can take a very long time. But after time, you build up a catalogue of lessons and materials and it becomes better. Later on, the hardest part looks like easier. The non-teaching work that you have to do, such as staff meetings, paperwork, i.e. administrative work, examination work, dealing with parents of students and also dealing with other ministerial staff is very difficult. All above work you have to do politely then academic work is not difficult.
How to locate weaknesses and stengths in students' performance and finding ways to eliminate the weaknesses is the most important issue in academic work. Treating every individual student according to what they deserve is another problem and challenging poblem that cannot be handled easily.

Maintaining excellence in the traditional areas of research, teaching and service. The way to deal with it is through having a balance between family and work, efficiency, collaboration and enduring the jealousy that success brings!
Very good question. I agree with Nihada Ahmetovic . Administrative things make us much more difficult. A lot of administration means less research and ultimately less work or contribution to the development of science.
Nowadays teachers are very busy with extra admnistrative work; feeling like a robot. Therefore; the most difficult is to stay creative for research because they are in opposite directions
In my opinion teaching is the most difficult part of academic work, as it is concerned with a wide spectrum of students with different abilities and variable culture.
it worsts for us, as young researchers in some cases you stuck in academic work and forget about the research, of course, that will affect their level and their student level

The defining characteristics of the work in academic world ,which is mostly found within the limits of universities , clearly portray the difficulty of the tasks which require our unfailing commitment to specialized goals. The main reason is that seeking the purest manifestation of possible phenomena under scrutiny requires a persistent perseverance in investigating , evaluating ,and exploiting the results introduced by other scientists, and at times, by combining the results from different sources trying to produce something that is applicable, useful, and profitable to the human societies. I think this is far and away the most difficult work in academic contexts.
Administration is an important but difficult part of academics. I would consider as part of Administration. Advisement is equally important because the work they do is key to motivating the student and preventing the student from dropping out of the program. If these two aspects are in place correctly then it would make the job of the instructor/professor a lot easier.
The most difficult part of the academic work is the continuous updating of your lectures, diversity of questions exams, in addition, to follow of research of postgraduate students .
Thanks Dr Isam Issa Omran, Dr Reza Biria, Dr Nihad Mohammed, Dr Abdelrahim Hamid Mugaddam, Dr Slavoljub Hilčenko, Dr Srini Vasan, Dr Naseer Almukhtar, Dr M. A. A. Al- Fatlawi and Dr Alaa Jaleel Naji for your contributions
If we enjoy our work, if we have passion and patience, then everything will become easy for us.
“Have patience. All things are difficult before they become easy.” – Saadi.
Initially we may have to struggle, but later on if we work with devotion and commitment, we can enjoy our teaching, research, administration or any other thing that is assigned to us.
The most difficult part of academic work is the low possibility of doing groundbreaking research that is internationally recognized and its results practically applied/used in solving problems
Counseling the students will involve lot more efforts. One need to know and have patience to listen to the problems being faced by students and look for a solution and guide accordingly.
Academic job is a teaching profession whether it is secondary or college education for professional level in the specialize field & as such academic level to be viewed only from standard of their responsibility .It is in this line for higher level academic job demands a regular touch for all the development of their studies for their students .
This also demands the line between students & teacher & students may judge only of the knowledge & performance of the teacher .
With this a teacher must have practical ground for establishing efficient understanding for their students & for their success a teacher must have an academic administrative action required for their performance .
Academic job involves teaching, research, administration and mentoring. The most difficult part of the academic work is research. Because it requires State-of-the-art infrastructure to facilitate research and adequate research grants to carry out the research. It is very difficult to get research grants.
There are many difficult things that affect the academic work, including the availability of laboratories and its requirements for carrying out and completing scientific research and publishing it in the prestigious international scientific journals. Teaching also requires a lot to keep pace with the scientific development and the best scientific approach to obtaining information and giving lectures to students in the best and latest scientific methods. A difficult part of the academic work is the administration, which is really a difficult part and requires a great effort and a long time.
For me, i think the difficult part is combining teaching responsibilities with administrative / back office duties. Then again, there is the issue of carrying out research with little or no facilities and grants....that is asides other entrepreneurial duties that might be assigned. It is usually tiring when you have large classes and number of lecture hours daily/weekly. These challenges can be overcome by limiting class sizes, have clearly defined roles and responsibilities for teaching and non-teaching staff and encouraging active participation in research by providing an enabling environment.
Having an upward and downward good rapport is a very important thing in academics as it will provide you mental peace for doing what is expected from you but that's exactly what is difficult!
