Hi everybody,

as from title, I would like some advice for integration algorithms for nonlinear dynamics in FEA. Recently I've implemented in matlab the Newmark's scheme, however it converges only for an extremely fine time steps, which is often too expensive.

I've reviewed some literature, apparently unconditioned convergence is not available in nonlinear context, and different methods are proposed (HHTalpha, energy conservation, etc). Problem is I don't really see why I should prefer one over the other.

So, if someone wants to share their experiences on this topic, I would be very glad to hear :)
