Using insects as food and feed have been increasing globally. It is an important source of protein in poultry species. My question is that which insect is preferably used as a protein source in poultry? How and in what facilities the insects are produced (breeding, egg-laying, and hatching)?

Yes insects can be a see as an alternative source of protein in growing stages of birds. Termite spp. are more preferable, it's safer to use and are edible by man.
There is a lot of expectation for insects as food/feed, however, there are several legal constrains (at least in European Union) to avoid “unexpected” contamination of the food/feed chain.
Insects have to be rear with feed complying with feed regulation and (at least up to now) it is forbidden using waste as substrate, especially if from animal origin.
