Most teachers agree that teaching the culture of native speaking countries is valuable, but how MUCH should this be done? Do you have a percentage in mind or other way of saying how much of the course should be about culture? What kinds of cultural information works best to stimulate motivation?

For example, when teaching speaking or listening, culture should bein the first place because whatever we say in teaching this subject is related to culture. English is better learnt with culture. In my opinion, it shouldn't be less than 50% of the curriculum. Moreover, taking culture into consideration motivates students, and in turn enhance their learning.

In our research done three years ago we implemented some extra exercises, tasks and projects.
- Geography is useful for potential tourists.
- History is useful to get context.
- Manners is an essential topic.
- Habits are fascinating and should be motivational.
- Current, basic economics is vital.
- Differences from our culture is fascinating and motivational.
- Daily life.
7% or more if it is not a crash course.
Context is always important. No language exists in a vacuum. It is embedded in the milieu of culture, religion, food, customs, etc. So talking about those things when teaching a language is rather important.

In my opinion, international English should be simplified. One sound should correspond to one of the letters (alphabet).
we cannot exactly determine how much of it. language and culture are interrelated. most of the time, their teaching co-occurs. teaching a conversation is not possible without noticing the cultural norms and values. therefore, the percent is based on the context; sometime more linguistic knowledge and in other cases, more cultural information is pivotal.
Notably, teaching a foreign language is invariably imbued with cultural values because language and culture are two sides of the same coin. However, the presentation of foreign language cultural norms should not ridicule or belittle the targeted learners' local values. Consequently, some education experts advocate glocalization these days finding a logical way to advance globalization while respecting learners' local values and norms at the same time.
Obviously, as far as the inextricable link between language, culture, and ideology is highly acknowledged, the integration of such concepts into language teaching classrooms is not a choice but a must in both EFL and ESL contexts. However, we cannot precisely specify how much of L2 instruction could be devoted to the target culture/ ideology. In fact, a context-related L2 instruction would be a good idea, to my knowledge. In this case, the learners may benefit from the learning program best if they are provided with a variety of situations demanding different linguistic (vocabulary, structure, etc.) and non-linguistic (body language, for instance) resources which could be either introduced by the instructor or provided by the textbook.
