I am finding out that the SB-V is better for overall measurement if bright or more in ID category but am looking for better measures or different measures than those that have been my standby assessment tools. Trying to grow my repertoire and use of tools.
Raven's Progressive Matrices is often claimed to be a measure of g
(Snow, Kyllonen, & Marshalek, 1984). Some would say it measures the eductive component of g whereas vocabulary tests measure the reproductive component.

Canada was developing a group test that would measure some of the same cognitive components as appear on the Woodcock. I have tried to correlate Elizabeth Wiig's work on the CELF with the cognitive components; also, it is important to think of cross-battery assessment (which is something I have no luck with when trying to convince a school psychologist). Even school psych offices that use the WISC IV
don't do enough with the versions adapted for special education ; they cover one or two of the subtests and skip the rest.
