Yes UV-visible is enough to indicate the formation of nanoparticles. Each metal have distinctive surface plasmone resonance.

The first thing is color indication in term of Silver and Gold NPs. Silver and Gold NPs are also subjected to UV for more confirmation. But these are not enough for identification, XRD is most prominent technique for identification of crystalline materials. There are some Metallic nanoparticles which are directly subjected to XRD like Iron Oxide NPs, PbO NPs because different paper describing its different UV range.

So i will suggested, must carry out its XRD before sending to the Journal.
