I tried to use the box model to estimate the salt budget of Iraqi marshes, which explained by the equation concentration of salt input - concentration of salt yield (plus/minus) changes in ground water recharge/discharge. I did the calculation for 10 months period but I think there is a missing content to this equation! Please check the attached file to have a better clue. Thanks in advance

There seems to be a mismatch between salt in put - salt out put which is shown as salt balance but which should include that got due to evaporation,but then it is shown separately, & therefore the figures don't tally. (referring blue circles & arrows section)
Another point is when there is rainfall,that water having zero salinity,being lighter,will remain on top of heavier more saline water,& depth being 0.5 to 1 meter,unless there is good amount of turbulence,the waters do not mix adequately & hence out going water salinity values may differ.
Mr. Trivedi, do you suggest that have to change the equation in this matter?
the marshes have a good amount of turbulence so i don't think there is any differences in the salinity concentration of the outlets

I have checked-out the figures in the Table of the attached file.
If I understand well (e.g. for Al-Hawizeh marshes) you should have
Re-flooded area = 170 x 10^7 m^2
Average depth = 1.9 m
that gives an Initial volume of 323 x 10^7 m^3 = 3230 x 10^6 m^3
(WARNING: not 323 x 10^10 m^3 !)
Then you have:
precipitation = 255 x 10^6 m^3
Evaporation loss = 166 x 10^7 m^3 = 1660 x 10^6 m^3
Therefore
Initial Volume + Precipitation - Evaporation Loss = (3230+255-1660)x 10^6 m^3
= 1825 x 10^6 m^3
Hence:
C1= 0.8 g/L
V1= 3485 x 10^6 m^3
C2= t.b.d
V2= 1825 x 10^6 m^3
C2=C1*V1/V2 = 1.52 g/L
i.e. the salt concentration almost doubled...on the other hand, half of the water
volume went out due to evaporation...
Is this resulting "Salinity of the Marshes after Evaporation" closer to your
expectations ??
